We'll start of with a selection of senseis,
just to make sure I get all that I have up at some point.

This is from very early on the morning of the first day. Escobar
Sensei was too far away for me to pick up much of what was said, so you're on
your own for the specifics of what is being shown.
(I think it has something to do with redirection of force .
. . ;^)

It was still too far away for me to pick up much, but I think
this is the same idea, but with a tanto this time.
(I think it has something to do with redirection of force .
. . combined with retention of fingers!)

If anyone who could hear the audio portion of this demonstration
would care to mail me something, I'd be happy to add it here! This appears to
be a demonstration of force redirection, with emphasis on where uke will be
headed next!
(If it was nepotism for Clark Sensei to use his son for his
demos, then Aaron had a lot of fathers! He was everybody's favorite uke all
weekend. Something about knowing what he was doing I hear . . . )

This one was a demonstration of keeping and taking centers, and
how that is a vital concept when it comes to counter-techniques. I think it may
also be showing something similar to "gokyo" . . . at least that seems
to be the case based on the description in the list recently . . . what do I
know though? I'm just a noh-kyu! If by some wild chance I guessed right, would
someone please let me know? If I'm wrong, please don't rub it in, but a
correction would be appreciated too.
(You know, I'm getting more and more thankful that *my* dad
never took any Aikido . . . )

Here we see Clark Sensei relating to Ivan in a very direct and
personal fashion. Shihonage, right?.
(It's a good thing that Ivan turned out to be a nice guy in
person . . . and that everyone who was making threats before the seminar decided
to cancel the revenge plans once they got there! Right Ivan? ;^)

This is the opening of Simcox Sensei's session.
(I don't know whether to be pleased or worried that I can
identify at least two, and possibly three, of the audience members from blurry
pictures of the backs of their heads . . . after knowing them in person for less
than three days . . . )

Here Simcox Sensei demonstrates how to handle pesky ukes.
(I don't recognize the technique (big surprise, huh?) but
I'm pretty sure it isn't the Girl Scout Escape he showed later.)

Gordon Sensei demonstrates something for (to) Mike Burke. Again,
I'm not sure of the technique name, but I am sure it's going to be unpleasant .
. . does this one end with a nikyo?
(This one could come in handy around D.C. Looks ideal for
taking care of glad-handing politicians!)

Gordon Sensei demonstrates a hold down technique for Jun. This
is what I like about Aikido! Everyone seems to be having such a good time! No
grimaces (except in nikyo . . . ), no snarling, just happy smiling faces and a
lot of laughter!
(Did O Sensei use tickling as a submission technique? Is "Strike
like a feather" in any of the doka?)
Next a few more pics of some of the more . .
. vocal . . . listka!

Remember back on page one I suggested that you not give Maria a
hard time because I had a picture of her in the process of tucking Jun's ankle
behind his ear? Well, this is it! I didn't get the final result on film, but
you can tell where it's headed anyway.
(I guess it's not easy stretching out a cramp when you can
do stuff like this with ease!)

Darren demonstrates the "What's your sign?" technique
I think. Seriously, this was Escobar Sensei's class, and folks were still
introducing themselves to each other. Darren is meeting L.???
(This sort of meeting spot gives a whole new meaning to "having
a short fling together"!)

Ivan and Darren settle their differences while Escobar Sensei
watches calmly to make sure it doesn't get out of hand.
(You never know who might be watching, so always behave
yourself . . . or be the next demo uke!)

Here we see Dr. Gunther demonstrating her kindness as she helps
a tired uke to a nice resting spot on the mat.
(Is that look compassion and caring, or just a critical
estimation of the likelihood that this patient might be ready for her
professional attentions soon?)

Maria and Cady are shown the finer points of pyramid building.
(That's always the problem in a gi, isn't it? What to do
with your hands . . . )

The lines that formed up for the aerial rides were long, and
filled with regular posters to the list. Here we see Wendy, Mike Burke and
Alan, and in the back, Craig Hocker, all waiting their turn.
(The landings were made easier by the springy floor I hear.
Mike *did* say he has experience as a bouncer!)

This is one of my favorite pics from the seminar. It may be
blurry, but it's a perfect shot of what I need to work on the most!
I
also have no idea who this is!
(That happened a lot at first! By the end of the weekend
I'd met at least half of those present though . . . next year the rest!)

This is one would have been one of my favorite pics from the
seminar . . . except that a darn pad got in the way as I panned to cover the
throw! Tim Gion has a great flourish at the end of a throw, doesn't he? You
almost want to shout, "Ole!"
(Though it was really pretty, he wasn't awarded the ears or
tail . . . for which I hope uke (Lee Escobar I believe . . . ) is grateful!)

To continue the tradition started on page one, of ending with a
humorous pic, we now come to the "Janet and Darren square-dance shot",
previously mentioned. This was a weekend filled chock full of different ways to
teach Aikido all right!
(Not to mention dozens of ways to learn it!)
Ok, that's it for page two! Go on to page three if you
want more, or back to the main page if you want to pick your own next page or
see where to send comments and corrections. Page three is where the Koshi
Competition and Grappling Demo are hidden . . . not that I'm trying to influence
your decision or anything . . .
