Aikido-L Mailing List: 1998 Seminar: Review, J. Akiyama [3/4]
Memorable Moments

Dennis performing a "no-touch" throw on Aaron Clark, looking over at Ivan, and saying to him, "There's your no-touch throw."

George demonstrating by what he means by "being light." I can imagine him in a hula skirt. No, really.

Getting a knock on the door at room 558 (Janet's room) on Saturday night to reveal a couple of police officers to break up the party. Oops.

Cady dragging Tim Gion in his chair to our table on Friday night at Appleby's.

Ivan and Mark Lipsinic facing off in a sumo ceremony, complete with leg raises and hand slaps, during Chuck G's class.

The awards ceremony. 'Nuff said. (Text will be posted by Janet later.)

Wendy storming Janet's room in full "work" gear, complete with plastic apron, head cap, mask, and gloves. Oh, and her Half a Brain in Plastic Block that she had in her car.

Jim's New York taichi form, including the movements Swaying Like Brooklyn Native, Rubbing Entire Arm Under Running Nose, and Up Yours.

That bad movie with the big iguana that attacks New York. Ick.

Hearing Kjartan pronounce his name. (Basically ChaRtAn. "Char" as in "Charles," "R" is a glottal "r" (upside down capital R in IPA), and "tan" with a flat "a" and not a schwa.)

"Kjartan and Maria, sitting in a tree."

Rocky demonstrating "corn holio" and impersonating Beavis and Butthead and Queen Elizabeth.

Steve Furbish applying a counter on Aaron Clark for the first time in his life during their randori demonstration, and Aaron Clark saying "Hey, all right!" while still in the air.

Alan Drysdale's reaction upon hearing CJ Cherryh is a transsexual lesbian. (Don't ask me. I have no idea.)

Jimandwendy's "Hi, my name is Not Ivan" name tags.

Kjartan's Stetson cowboy hat, leather vest, and pop-rifle.

Polo (the hated) and Cady's arm wrestling rematch and re-rematch.

Seeing Ivan and Craig Hocker sitting next to each other at the Saturday night dinner.

Chuck G. explaining the reason why he was wearing all black during his class on Sunday was that he didn't want to be "outdone by those budo bimbos, I mean babes."

Dennis pulling Aaron Clark into the sensei lineup picture and asking his name be placed under Aaron's picture.

Oh, and Mike Bartman is a really big guy.
