Observe that the Orange line runs approximately East - West.
The dojo and Homewood Suites are at Dunn Loring-Merrifield stop.
End of the Orange line is Vienna -- that's what will show on signs.
If you arrive at Reagan National Airport, take the Blue Line to
Rosslyn and transfer to the Orange line to Dunn Loring/Vienna.
Rosslyn escalator is amazing. Be sure to stop and look up it when you
get to the bottom. Why so big? Because you'll be diving under the
Potomac River to cross into Virginia.
If you arrive at Dulles Airport, taxi to Homewood Suites in
Merrifield, or, we will arrange to pick you up. Keep us posted on your
schedule. Will also be checking on shuttle buses. TBD.
If you arrive at Baltimore/Washington Airport, take the
train to Union Station or ground (bus) transportation to Dulles.
If you arrive by train at Union Station, take the Red line to
Metro Center and transfer to the Orange line to Dunn Loring/Vienna.
Note: if you are traveling very light and get in early, you're just a
block or two from the Capital. Take a tour. Then stroll down the mall
towards the Washington Monument. Botanical Gardens, Library of
Congress are next to the Capital, Air & Space further down on your
left (you might recognize the rockets out front), Natural History
across on your right, Hirschorn, etc. etc. The Smithsonian Metro stop
is right on the mall across from The Castle and it's on the Orange
Line.
Baggage note: If you'd like to travel lighter than you might otherwise,
you are welcome to ship heavy or bulky items to the dojo mailing address.
I'll pick them up at the post office and store them at the dojo for your
arrival.
Etiquette note: stand to the right on the Metro escalators.
Workaholic Washingtonians can't relax long enough even for an
escalator ride and will pass on the left.
Otherwise we'll see you at Homewood!
Cheers!
