Aikido-L Mailing List: Seminars: 1999 US Seminar: Review: Dave Shaw
Date: Tue, 9 Nov 1999 22:18:18 -0500
From: Dave Shaw
Subject: exquisite pain
Well, we made it home. Somehow I resisted the urge to break off one of Kevin's arms and beat him to death with it - must be that darn "nice" thing again...

Thanks to everyone for accepting Kevin so graciously. He had a great time, and seems to have gotten a lot from it (although he'll probably drive me batty about it for a while).

Also, my personal thanks to all the unfortunates who worked with me over the weekend. Someday I'll learn how to alternate left and right without getting it confused by the third or fourth iteration. Heck, I may even learn how to do this stuff one of these lifetimes. Special thanks to Chuck Gordon and company in room 515, and his other guests on Friday and Sunday evening. That was a very pleasant place, both with and without the single malts.

What did I learn at the seminar? More than my poor old brain could store, especially overdosed on MSG as it was (I figured out that that was causing my headaches when I couldn't get my wedding ring off on Sunday). Exquisite pain, indeed! Every dark cloud has a silver lining - my headache got me a personal work-over from the lovely Dr. Gunther. That was worth the price of admission on its own!

BTW, is it just me, or is Mike Bartman a bit tall?

Dave "and I'm not as sore as
I thought I'd be, either" Shaw
